Management & Leadership Program

Date of event:
2 March 2010 - 5:15pm - 6:15pm

Belinda Whittaker will present the Management and Leadership Program - A Program for Future Leaders

The Management and Leadership Program (MLP) is a two-week program, held at the University of Pittsburgh, located in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. It is a unique opportunity for international undergraduate students to travel abroad, study under renowned professors, and explore the operations of American and Canadian companies. Participation in the MLP significantly enhances one's university experience both academically and culturally and will include students from all over Europe and South America.

In this program students will visit large corporations such as Bombardier and American Eagle Outfitters, Inc.  Class topics include strategic planning and development, leadership and communication, business ethics, and international finance.

The MLP gives students the opportunity to engage in a unique, credit worthy learning experience and to develop themselves as global citizens. The program provides students with a chance to immerse themselves in the history and corporate culture of another country, while gaining a distinct competitive edge in the employment market. Many graduate schools and potential employers seek candidates with international experience who have the skills to succeed in an ever-changing global marketplace.

One of the innovative features of the MLP is the capstone experience, Social Responsibility in Global Business, which engages you in a team-based case challenge on a current topic dealing with social responsibility in global business. In case project teams, you present your insights on the case to a panel of faculty and corporate reviewers. This highly interactive and competitive capstone challenge provides an opportunity for you to apply the knowledge you’ve gained during the MLP and discuss critical issues facing global business today in areas such as ethics, social responsibility, sustainability, and social innovation.
